Statement by University of Iowa President Bruce Harreld regarding the Supreme Court ruling on DACA

I am pleased the protections against deportation provided under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program will remain in place. The university is committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for all our students and today’s decision provides greater security for those who arrived in this country as children. However, congressional action is still needed to ensure a permanent legislative solution.

I stand with other AAU member presidents and chancellors in continuing to urge Congressional action so DACA participants may remain in the United States without fear of deportation and can continue to contribute to our society.
